Our History
The Marist Hockey Club was formed some 17 years ago under the name of St Joseph's Hockey Club.
The clubs purpose is to foster the sport of Hockey by providing opportunities for the wider Marist community to engage in competitive Hockey throughout all Grades
In those early days the club primarily sourced its players from St Joseph's Primary School in Papanui. In 2000 the club was joined by players from St. Patrick's & other Catholic primary schools in Christchurch. Now we stretch far and wide from Star of the Sea in Sumner to Villa Maria College in Upper Riccarton.
Given this, it was felt that the club name should embrace this group of people & hence the use of the Marist name today.
The Marist Club had over 340 players in the 2010 season, with our highlight, winning the Girls Primary Schools 11 aside Competition.
