This grade is suitable for first-season players. It is a training grade to develop the ability of young, new players. This grade is where players will begin their hockey journey and start off with learning the basic foundation skills from holding the stick to stopping the ball.

Children who are in Year 1-3 are permitted in this grade. As a training grade any ability level is acceptable.

A team consists of 6 players (on the field at any one time), no goalkeeper. Rolling substitutions are encouraged.

Games are played on artificial surfaces which are approximately one-quarter of a full- sized turf, although probably a little smaller. 

Games are 2 x 15minute halves with a 2-minute half-time. Scores are not recorded.
